Cynthia Ann McZeal was born on November 1, 1946, in Mermentau, Louisiana, to the proud parents, Edgar and Clara McZeal. On Sunday, October 13, 2026, she was called home to the Lord and entered into eternal rest. Cynthia shared a beautiful love story with her husband, Clayton McZeal. Nearly 59 years ago, it was love at first sight, and they never looked back. Together, their devotion built a life of legacy that would last for generations. Cynthia was a woman of strength, undeniable beauty, and a personality larger than life. She was a one of a kind woman and lived her life unapologetically. She was a true diva in every sense of the word, from sewing her own clothing to ensuring her hair and nails were always done, she carried herself with confidence and sass. Beyond her beauty many will remember Cynthia most by her dedication to God, her boldness, her resilience, unwavering strength and her love for family. Family was her world, and her home was the gathering place for many who loved her. Her door was always open and over the years, many knew her as a mother figure and matriarch of their own lives. She had a special way of making people feel at home, unless, of course, you were rooting against her beloved New Orleans Saints!
Those who knew Cynthia knew that she was never one to be quiet! She was loud, expressive, outspoken and could talk a hole in your ear, sometimes without even giving you a chance to get a word in. That’s what we loved about her. Some of the fondest memories shared were of her and her Clayton playfully bickering back and forth. Oh, and don’t let the Saints lose and the Steelers win. What started as a football game quickly turned their home into a war zone, with the rest of the family laughing from the sidelines. Their love, their banter and the life they built together created memories that will be cherished for generations.
Above all, Cynthia was a fighter. Throughout her life, she faced challenges that she overcame. With God’s help, she always found a way to come out stronger on the other side. Her devotion to her marriage was one to be modeled after. She reminded us, time after time, that what doesn’t kill you truly makes you stronger.
Although our hearts were not ready to say goodbye, we find peace in knowing that after a lifetime of fighting, loving, and giving so much of herself to others, she has finally found rest. We find comfort in knowing that she is reunited with her only love, Clayton.
Her legacy is not measured by the years she lived but the lives she’s touched. Her voice may be quiet now, but her presence will echo through our family for generations to come. And if there’s one thing we know, heaven just got a whole lot louder, a whole lot more beautiful, and a little bit more fabulous.
“For I know that my redeemer liveth, And that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: And though after my skin worms destroy this body, Yet in my flesh shall I see God: Whom I shall see for myself, And mine eyes shall behold, and not another, Though my reins be consumed within me.” Job 19: 25-27
