Obituary

Gable Reed, a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of industriousness, generosity, and deep love for his family. He was a man of great integrity whose life was distinguished by commitment, dedication, and the warmth of his relationships. Born on August 4, 1954, in Grand Chenier, Louisiana, to the late Jim Reed Sr. and Roberta West. Gable accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized at Riverside Baptist Church, where he nurtured his faith. Gable graduated from Marion High School and furthered his education at Job Corps,

training as an electrician. After years of working in the electrical trades, Gable returned to school to specialize in

cement finishing, a craft he mastered throughout his career. He worked at the Port of Lake Charles, PPG, Turner,

and R & R Construction for 25 years, he later retired from the construction industry. His unmatched skill and

dedication earned him the respect and admiration of many colleagues over the years.

Gable's deep love for his family was evident in every moment shared. He had an especially close relationship with his grandchildren, particularly Gavin, Dominique and King, offering them unwavering love and support along with a little fighting. As a loving father, he instilled high standards in his children, encouraging them to reach their full potential. Gable's devotion to his daughters, Gabbrielle, Paris and Brandi, was particularly special, as he often referred to them as "his baby cakes."

Gable shared his life journey with his beloved wife, Marylin Reed. They had three lovely children: Christopher Malbrough, Gabbrielle Malbrough, and Paris Sam, all from Lake Charles, La. The relationship Gable shared with Marylin was the cornerstone of his life. Together, they shared a 41- year union filled with love, harmony, and simple moments, whether cooking, shopping, or enjoying peaceful evenings on the porch. Gable's love for Marylin was deep and unwavering, and their bond reflected the kindness and warmth he shared with all those around him. Gable was also blessed with three children from his first marriage: Gabriel Reed, Joshua Reed, and Alexander Reed, all from Lake Charles.

Gable was a man of many passions. He loved playing dominoes, enjoyed casino games, and found peace in fishing.

He took great pride in his garden and cared for his pit bulls. Gable was known for his culinary skills and enjoyed cooking and sharing meals with family and friends, especially over his morning coffee. Music brought him joy with soulful sounds.

Gable's passing leaves a profound void in the lives of his loved ones, but his legacy of love, devotion, and commitment will never be forgotten. His wife, children, grandchildren, and all who knew him will forever be inspired by the immense difference he made through his love, actions, and the connections he built
