Evelyn Melanson Jack was born on November 26, 1947 in Welsh, Louisiana to the late Raymond and Arlene (Bias) Melanson. Evelyn entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 in Lake Charles La. She resided in Houston, Texas, Mamou and Lake Charles, Louisiana to which she returned after the death of her husband.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Forest Jack, her adopted niece, Dominika (Melanson) Antoine; five brothers: Austin Sr., Emerson, Ervin, Frederick and Henry Melanson; and one sister, Roberta (Melanson) Green.

She was a lifelong member of Blake Street Church of Christ where she sang in the choir. She loved her family beyond measures.

She leaves to cherish her memories are her daughter, Dorothy (Jack) Celestine; a niece she raised as her own, Mary (Lawrence) Johnson Gustave; grandchildren she raised as her own, Christopher (Danielle) Jack, Evelyn Ragina Jack (Derek) Roy, Jaekwon Fontenot, Demarian Melanson, Angel Edward, Earlis Celestine Jr and Earlissia Celestine; two brothers: Joseph (Betty) Melanson, Pastor Rainney Lee (Francis) Melanson; three sisters: Edna (late Wayne) Lyons, Roana (Henry) Melanson Guillory and Mary Johnson; two sisters in-law: Lorena (Jack) Chavis and Loritha (Jack)Williams; Goddaughter, Kandi Jolivette; and two Godsons: Derick DeShoun Melanson and Rainney Lanard Melanson. She leaves other grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and church family.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
