Clarissa
Griffin
Aug 22, 1934 — Oct 26, 2024
. Clarissa Jane Woodard Griffin "Nanny" was the youngest daughter of 14 children born to the late Clarence Sr. and Mary Walker Woodard. She was born on August 22, 1934, in Elizbeth, Louisiana. The loving wife of Genters (Buddy) Griffin. She was lovingly called "Nanny" or "Nanny Clair" by family. Nanny was a woman who loved life and lived it to the fullest.
Clarissa was a proud graduate of the W. O. Boston class of 1952. She was a member of Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church since she was a young child, under the leadership of Rev. C.S. Keys where she served in the children's choir, youth choir, and youth usher board; under the leadership of Pastor Harvey Lawson she was a member of the adult choir, Sunday school teacher, WMU secretary, vacation bible school teacher, and she drove the church van. She was a dedicated and faithful member of Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church until her health began to fail. She always considered Mount Pilgrim as her church home.
Clarissa was a treasured bus driver for many years with the Calcasieu Parish School Board. She retired in December of 1999 after 28 years of service driving many generations of children that she loved as her own.
On Saturday, October 26, 2024, the Lord called his child home. She will forever be remembered as a loving sister, aunt, and a devoted friend to all. She leaves many cherished memories with the countless lives she has touched. She will always be remembered for her contagious laugh and her infectious smile. She uplifted every person she met and brightened every room she entered.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her brother Nathaniel L Woodard (Pokebone) and Godchild Catrella (Trell) Malbreaux, her nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.
Welcoming her into heaven are her parents Clarence Sr. and Mary Woodard, her husband Genters (Buddy) Griffin, her siblings Clarence Woodard, Beatrice Thomas, Ceotis Woodard, Dorethia Collins, Herman & Henry Woodard, Hayes & Hayward Woodard, Julius & Joseph Woodard, Galisha Woodard, Laval Woodard, Nephews: Alex (June) and Raymond Collins.
